The traditional Konya is loosely knotted into hexagon patterns and suffused with earthy tones and dyes. This carpet bears the traditional red field but fills the other half of each niche with clear blue. The medallions are the most colorful part, exhibiting the usual Konya yellow and handwoven hexagons. The Konya carpet was described by Marco Polo as the most beautiful carpet style in the world.
